Doodlebug

Friday was the Doodlebugs 10th birthday. My how time flies. Life was so simple back then. I was working Baylor and was home with her thru the week. I remember when she was born I had never felt that close to a human being before. She was a happy, chunky, and healthy baby. People would comment that she was the Gerber baby. She would wear a hat and never try to take it off. On Friday we took her up to Discover Mills and let her do some shopping. We brought Parker and McKay with us. Then we all had dinner at Medieval Times. She was knighted by the king and had her birthday announced during the show. I hope she had a wonderful day! She is a joy to raise.

Georgia

We helped with a 40th birthday party last night for one of my dearest friends, Georgia Collier. I met Georgia when I was 27. Our husbands grew up together in the same neighborhood. I had started a new job at Athens Womens Clinic and her husband Curt was doing medical sales for the office. I remember telling him that I would love to meet his wife and he told me to call her and see if we could set up dinner. I called her and found her to be such a warm and engaging person over the phone. We set up a dinner at my house but then her son Harris caught a virus. In a few weeks Georgia invited us to their home and I guess as they say, "the rest is history". Our children, Harris and Doodlebug bonded and so did we. We have see each other through good times and bad. I had 2 more children and she had one more. She was with me when I had Bro-Bro. I couldn't think of anyone (other then Darrell) that I wanted there more. She has seen me through my mother's cancer, Sabina's 10 month fight with cancer, and the loss of our precious EA. And when I say she has seen me through what I really mean is she has been right there with me. She is the friend that keeps on giving. If you truly know her then your life is never the same. I am so thankful that God sent her to me.

First post of 2009

Well we are having a rough start to this new year. But hey when you hit rock bottom there is no where else to go but up right? We have been PLAGUED by strep. It all started on Inaguration Day. Doodlebug had not been feeling too well that morning but I you know I am a nurse and I push my kids when they are sick. So of course I got called at 9:30 and she was in the office. I took her to the doctor that afternoon and she had strep so home with Amoxicillin (which does not work anymore but they still have to use it!). We were back to the doctor on June 27th because Doodlebug was not feeling any better and was almost finished with her antibiotic and Beckham was showing symptoms. They both has strep and we were put on Augmentin. February 3rd I was back at the doctor with Beckham who had started running a fever again. He STILL had strep. They put him on Zithromax. On Februay 4th, Bro-Bro started running a fever and Beckham was still running a fever so I went back to the doctor on February 5th. They told me that Bro-Bro now had strep and Beckham had strep and the FLU! So, Bro-Bro went on Zithromax and Beckham went on Tamiflu. On February 22nd both boys started vomiting and running fevers again. I knew it was strep. Back to the doctor on February 23rd where they told me both boys still had strep and Beckham STILL had the flu. I insisted on NO MORE oral antibiotics for Beckham. I was agreeable to putting him in the hospital but they wanted to try Rocephin injections. He had to have 8 injections in 24 hours and they were PAINFUL. He is my active child and he could barely walk the past few days. I am taking both boys back next week for a recheck. I have to have a negative test on these boys.

I saved the best for last, due to all this I have lost my job and my insurance will run out at the end of the month. Say some prayers for me that I will find a job soon.

Happy 2009!

2008 is almost in the books. I am honestly ready for 2009. It has been a difficult year. Darrell lost his job in Dec 2007 so financially it has been hard. He did get his job back but they cut his pay drastically. Doodlebug dealt with a great deal of sadness related to her grieving process. In
June one of my close friends died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 39. Watching her family (3 kids and hubby) experience this grief has been nothing short of heartbreaking. I enjoy spending time with them and will continue this while I am on God's green earth. Then all the stuff with my Dad.
I still see all the blessings-Dad and Paul's recovery, Mom being almost 4 years out from stage 3 breast cancer, a hypoallergenic kitten who joined our family in March, my children's health, so many wonderful friends (GA, Erin, and Jill, just to name a few). Most of all a heavenly father who still loves me despite all my failings.
I wish everyone a wonderful 2009!
Jennifer

Sick

I have been sick for a few weeks. I honestly haven't had time to go to the doctor. I hope to go next week. I think it is a sinus infection and bronchitis. You know how we nurses are. We take care of everyone else besides ourselves!
